Last updated: 18 October 2026
We comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD). This page explains what data we process, why and for how long. In short: we do not sell data, we do not run personalised advertising, and we measure our audience with our own system, without cookies and without storing your IP address.
1. Data controller
La 101 de Lleida ("the newspaper"). Data protection email: legal@la101delleida.com, with the subject line "Data protection".

| Our own audience measurement, without cookies | Page visited, referring website (domain only), campaign (utm_source), device type based on screen width, edition (ca, es, en) and seconds spent reading. Your IP address is not stored: each visitor is counted with an irreversible daily code (IP address and browser combined with a key that changes every day) | Legitimate interest in understanding our audience (Art. 6(1)(f)). You can object with the "Decline" button on the notice or in the cookie policy | Once the daily key changes, the code can no longer be linked to anyone; only statistics remain |
3. Who else is involved
- Hosting: data is kept in the newspaper's own database on servers provided by Hostinger International Ltd. (web hosting and email), with appropriate safeguards for any transfer outside the EU.
- Internal moderation alerts: when a comment arrives, the newsroom receives a Telegram alert with the author's name and the text so that it can be approved or rejected; the email address is not sent. Neighbourhood reports reach the newsroom by email; the Telegram alert only says that one has arrived, with no personal data.
- Fonts: when a page loads, your browser downloads the typefaces from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Ltd.), which receives your IP address as with any connection. No cookies are set.
- Lleida weather: to show it in the header, your browser queries api.open-meteo.com, which receives your IP address; no other data is sent.
- Share buttons: these are ordinary links to X, WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook; nothing loads until you click them.
We do not sell or pass on data to third parties for commercial purposes.
4. Your rights
You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability at any time, and withdraw your consent, by writing to legal@la101delleida.com. We reply within one month at most. If you feel we have not handled your request properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
5. Newsletter: signing up and unsubscribing
Signing up to the newsletter requires double opt-in: after you sign up you will receive an email with a link that you must click. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, with no need to identify yourself. The delivery log is kept as proof of consent.
6. Comments
Comments are published after review by the newsroom (pre-moderation). By posting one, you agree that we keep your name alongside the published text. Your email address is never shown and is used only for matters relating to the comment. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
7. Neighbourhood reports
Reports are treated as confidential journalistic communications: only the newsroom has access to them. Attachments (photos and videos) are stored in a restricted area of the server, are not public and can only be downloaded from the newsroom's email through an individual signed link. You choose whether your name appears if the report is published. If the facts cannot be verified, the report is dismissed and its data deleted. We do not publish third parties' personal data or unproven accusations.
8. Security
Passwords stored with a secure hashing algorithm (bcrypt), mandatory encrypted HTTPS connections, limits on login attempts, database backups and restricted access to credentials.
9. Minors
The newspaper's services are not aimed at children under 14. If we detect data belonging to a minor, we will delete it immediately.
10. Changes
Any change to this policy will be published on this page with its update date. If it affects existing processing, we will notify registered users by email.
This text is published in Catalan, Spanish and English. In the event of any discrepancy, the Catalan version prevails.
